Glad to get this. Provoke only had three official issues and this number 0 was a teaser for advertisers and buyers. Only eight pages, but it has Spasmodique, Test Department, Sixth Comm, Public Enemy and Startled Insects. This issue came without a cassette.

I noticed I have increasing less time to scan magazines, which takes up more work than than transferring cassettes. I also notice that time is something I have less and less these days. I am glad you paid some attention and check back in a year or so, maybe I found some extra time. For now the final issue of this German magazine.

I almost thought of completing all the Siam newsletters, but after five more I think I wouldn't have a visitor left, although I liked the perverse act of putting on non english magazines for such a long time. Ok, so here's an english one again, and unfortunately the only issue I have of it. I did put black sheets behind it, but it still shines through. Too bad, don't complain ('don't look at my outward shape but take what is my hand'). Its a different scanner, since I went to a friend to scan this (and 13 other A3 magazines, yesterday and today), but the others look better. This magazine was made by Alain Demeure from Belgium and contains just reviews of cassettes. I scanned them in the order which the magazine had. From 1984. I really wished I had other copies too!

Up until the one after this one, the fifth issue (there was also a number 0, which I posted but got removed, and is now part of this), this magazine is stapled. After this the magazine has a glued spine and can only be scanned by taking them apart. Shock Corridor has numbers 1, 2, 4, 11 and 12. He had 2 copies so destroyed one to do the scans. I have some of the missing in between numbers, but sadly one copy, which I am not destroying. This issue has pieces on Skin Chamber, Coil, Autopsia, Nitzer ebb, Konstruktivits, Stress and WMTID, tons of reviews and a mailorder catalogue from this magazine, where they sell all sorts of stuff.

Somewhere between a fanzine and a commercial newsbulletin is this, the only release every made from these five Dutch labels: Ding Dong, Stichting Update Materials, Kubus Kommunikaties, Trumpett Tapes and Fetisj. The biggest attempt at making things professional, this booklet was printed in an edition of 5000 if I was not mistaken.

This is the first issue from Zamizdat Trade Journal, a magazine which varied in size over the years, published by Joel Haertling of Architects Office. Some were on paper, some took life as compilation cassettes. I was searching for them, and could only find issue 6 online, but not number 4 which seems to have quite well-known names, as Nurse With Wound and The Legendary Pink Dots. I don't have these myself, but I have various issues of the paper magazine, and I'll start with this number one, which is basically a lot of fine print on The Legendary Pink Dots, Architects Office, Nurse With Wound, Stan Brakhage and a piece on the cassette scene in the USA. In English. Published August 1984.

Two graphical booklets at the start of the new year, both dealing with new years: calenders. Both were produced by Korm Plastics and are basically graphics by musicians who incorporated a month. The 1986 one is a booklet - quite useless if you ask me for a calender - and has graphics by Graf Haufen, Alain Neffe, Coup e Grace, Rafael Flores, Wartste Copy Art, 6de Kolonne, Mick Gaffney, Kart, Peter Zincken, Trev Ward, Disabuse Tranmissions and Hapunkt Fix. A fanzine published by Suzuki Shunya from Japan, but the entire contents is in English. I am not sure when it was published. It focusses on the European industrial music and has articles on Whitehouse, MB, Satori, Psychout Production (the forerunner of Multimood), Giancarlo Toniutti, Intrinsic Action, and more. Lots of information, no review section. I don't have number 1 I think, and I am not sure if there were any more issues.

Independent Friends 8

This week I learned there is a new LP by O.R.D.U.C., a legendary Dutch electronic band. The LP is great and get one. The man behind O.R.D.U.C. used to run a label Stichting Muziek Nieuws, who released compilation LPs where you could buy time on the record. I posted pretty much all of them on No Longer Forgotten Music. Less known is that Nico Selen also released a small magazine, Independent Friends. Number 8 is the oldest issue I have (I seem to be missing number 9), but have the later ones. Anyway, partly in Dutch and partly in English, with information on his label, cassette and record reviews, a piece on The Klinik. Short and sweet. Released in January 1987.

There has been some nice response to this indeed lovely magazine. It gets bigger and bigger, this issue is 56 pages (the next 64 and then 80). Its quite a work to scan of all these and it just takes hours behind the scanner, which I not always have at my hand. Be patient, it all comes, one day. Inside this issue you'll find pieces on Steve Reich, The State, Negativland/Plagiarism, Front Line Assembly, Contrastate and again tons of reviews, magazines and more.

I know this is over at Shock Corridor, but the download link seems to be gone. SZo I rescanned it from the copy I have. I don't think there is a link with Hunting Lodge, but its published by one Kathee. Visual submissions on the theme of Erotik Art by Sleep Chamber, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Slave State, K. Tinsely, Deviation Social, Trinity Of The Thee X, Coup de Grace, Lebensborn, Alain Neffe and Eden 67. This was released in an edition of 69 copies, each 'numbered' with a word, 'flesh' in my case.

I thought I posted all issues of The Feverish, but then I found this fifth issue. Pieces by Coup de Grace, Sigillum S, V2 (manifest for unstable media), The Haters, Death In June, Zero Kama, Club Moral about their tour in Australia, Mortification Of The Flesh, S Core and as usual separate papers with reviews. Now I am pretty sure this was the last one. No date anywhere, but I think around early 1987.

A friend of mine gave me a whole bunch of magazines, for which I thank him a lot. All of them are big! This one took me two hours to scan, and its one of the smaller. Not all of these magazines are music related, but also art, so I must see which ones I do. But this one is about music: electronic, avant-garde, experimental, hardbeat and industrial and has pieces/interviews on/with Robert Anton Wilson, Controlled Bleeding, Nocturnal Emissions, Insane Music, The use and abuse of fascist imagery in industrial music, 'over 100 reviews and more! From Front 242 to Philip Glass' and lots of magazine reviews. Published by Brian Duguid. This is from summer 1991.

Graf Haufen is perhaps best known for his Falx Cerebri (one-man) band, but also from his label Graf Haufen Tapes. Less known perhaps is that he also published a fanzine, Die Katastrophe, of which I am presenting today number 9 - I don't have any of the older ones. Basically its a fanzine of reviews, mostly from the world of cassettes. You may not want to download this, since its all in German, but I advise to do a download and look at all the names of obscurities in there. Some of them were posted on No Longer Forgotten Music, but as this magazine will proof, there is lots more forgotten (and to be honest I don't have them either), so you can have an idea what to look for.

I had to get out and buy a new scanner, which sits better here, so hopefully I can do more magazines - if I have the time for it. So I did the second issue of H23 which had a long editorial exchange between Ron Rice (the publisher) and Carl Howard (of NoMuzic and Artitude magazine), Floating Concrete Octopus, Arthur Potter, Sleep Chamber, Randy Greif, PGR, an Inner-X discography, a piece of Conrad Schnitzler and reviews. Also included in this scan is the 7" that came along and which has tracks by Sleep Chamber, Randy Greif, PGR and Floating Concrete Octopussy. Published in 1989.

Maybe I should have posted this one at No Longer Forgotten Music, but hey there should not always be logic. Tago Mago was, I believe first a magazine, and later on expanded into a label. They did three issues, un numbered, each with a cassette. This issue has written pieces, more like a chronology on This Heat and visual material by Albert Marcoeur. Each of them are also on the cassette, which is included in the zip.
